Dermal Fillers
At Your New York Face every patient is treated with the dermal filler that is most appropriate for their needs. Restylane® is the first and only dermal filler in the U.S. composed of NASHA™ gel, Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. It’s proven to give long-lasting correction of moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds. Juvéderm™ is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. The smooth consistency gel helps to instantly restore your skin's volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, like your "smile lines" or “parentheses” (nasolabial folds—the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth). Radiesse® is a next-generation dermal filler that treats facial lines such as the nasolabial folds as well as other facial lines and wrinkles. It consists of calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel. Radiesse® gives you instant, visible improvement of folds and wrinkles, providing long-lasting results of up to a year.
What are Dermal Fillers?
Cosmetic dermal fillers restore volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds. Most are made of natural substances which already exist in the human body.
How does the treatment work?
The dermal filler is injected in small amounts underneath the skin with a small needle to fill increases, lines, wrinkles and folds. To maximize comfort, an anesthetic topical cream or anesthetic block may be administered.
How many treatments are required?
Multiple treatments may be necessary to optimize results. Two to four weeks after the first treatment is administered, a touch-up treatment may be required to achieve the desired results. The treatment wears off after six to twelve months and may be repeated to continue the effect.
Are dermal fillers safe?
Dermal fillers are safe products because hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body and therefore dissolves naturally in the body’s tissues.
Are there any possible side effects?
Possible side effects include swelling, redness and, in some cases, bruising. Generally these side effects disappear within a couple of days. These potential side effects are non-threatening.
Will there be any downtime?
There is generally no downtime. The treatment session takes about thirty minutes to perform.
What are the results?
The final result leaves facial features looking healthy, youthful and fuller.
What can be expected post-treatment?
On some occasions, there is slight redness or swelling. This temporary discomfort lasts two or three days. Your normal routine can be resumed immediately.
How soon will results appear?
Your results appear after any swelling diminishes.
How long do dermal fillers last?
Most last six to twelve months. Factors such as age, skin type and daily activities can influence how long the results last.
What are the alternative treatments?
There is an assortment of other treatments including collagen creams, fat injections and chemical peels, but dermal fillers are an excellent choice because of their natural formula.
Is additional treatment necessary?
Additional treatment is necessary to keep the look persistent. In six months, the hyaluronic acid will begin to fade, and new treatment can be injected to maintain the desired results.
